These images are of Dongdaemun, a huge, sprawling, shopping area in Seoul. The top photo is Dondaemun Gate from which the area derives its name. I shot the lower photo out of a bus window and it shows how jam-packed the sidewalks in the area are. Every space and crevice is used by someone to sell something in Dongdaemun. Like so many places in Seoul the subway tunnels are also packed with vendors as well. We enjoy going when we have something specific in mind that we want to purchase. Ties are 2,000 won (about $2.25 each) and the assortment is incredible. It is about 30 minutes by bus from where we live.
