Recently we traveled by bus from Seoul to the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone). The DMZ separates North and South Korea and we were participating in a USO sponsored tour.
While there are some severe restrictions on what may be photograped, the first photo shows the stark contrast between the forested South Korean landscape and the barren hills of North Korea. The 2nd photo shows a building on the South Korea side of the DMZ. In the 3rd photo our group awaits the opportunity to move into a meeting room that staddles the 38th parallel.
In the fourth a North Korean "Propaganda City" is shown. The city looks good but is actually unpopulated. The only thing moving was the giant 600 pound flag on the tower. Apparently the buildings are not even finished on the inside!
The 5th photo is a brige between South and North Korea and the photo above is an observation area where we were able to use telescopes to view North Korea. We also toured some of the tunnels that North Korea secretly built under the DMZ.
