We have mentioned before how difficult it is to say goodbye to our missionaries when it it is time for them to depart for home. Last week several departed and we were able to capture shots of three of them. At the top Elder Hobson (one of the assistants to the President) poses before departing and then displays his true feelings about leaving the mission field in the 2nd shot. His family in Grantsville, Utah will surely be happy to see him return!
In the 3rd picture Sister Pak prepares her teeth for the trip home. She was a great missionary and a real character! A few months back she sent in a water bill for her apartment and I gave her a hard time about the size of it. I told her that she was "drinking way too much water". Anyway, we continued to engage in such banter each time she came to the office and I finally started greeting her as Sister "Mur" (Korean for water). She was a great sport and we will miss her.
The photo above is Elder Moon. For the last several months he has been serving as the Branch President for a small congregation in Sokcho on the border near North Korea. The men in the Sokcho Branch lack the priesthood leadership experience necessary to be Branch President and so one of our missionaries must serve in that capacity . That is quite a responsibility for a young missionary but Elder Moon was outstanding. We will miss them all as well as Elder's Lillenberg (also and AP) and Blakeslee.
