This posting explores a couple more facets of Korea food. Early winter is "Kimchi " preparation time in Korea. The top photo shows the huge pile of cabbage our land-lady used to make her winter supply of Kimchi. It was delivered to the hallway of our apartment building and she spent several days outside putting it up.
The 2nd and 3rd photos were taken in one of the most interesting places we have discovered in Seoul. We call it the alley of the "Pig Faces". In a small, crowded alley in the area called Insadong there are about a half dozen tiny little restaurants that butcher, render & cook hogs. Nothing is wasted and the restaurants are always jam-packed with Koreans. Even the pig faces are used and they can always be seen displayed on tables outside of the restaurant's entrances. Apparently the faces are sold as "good luck" charms to newly opened businesses. Negotiating our way through this alley & experiencing its sights and smells has definitely been memorable.
