In the top photo we spotted a little old man and woman sitting on a curb. They were obviously from the country and were dressed so neatly and so unlike everyone else that it was difficult not to notice them. They were so kind and gentle with each other and so cute.
The 2nd photo shows a lady who takes first prize for the wildest head gear we have seen in Seoul. It is not unusual to see face masks or visers on women in Seoul but this woman could have been heading into space rather shopping in a local department store. It is likely that she had a cold, was fearful of catching one, or possibly has a compromised immune system that requires extravagent protection.
At one of the local street markets we spotted these "delicious" looking "live Loaches" for sale (pic 3). What a bargain...only 1000 won for 5!! Darn....I only had a 10,000 won bill!!
The cactus in photo 4 was located in the foyer of a new "On The Border" restaurant in Sinchon. The sign says "Danger"...we thought it very interesting that so few Koreans have actually ever seen large cacti that it is necessary to warn them that it has sharp spines.
Finally, the last picture shows one entrance to Dongdaemun Flea Market. What a place. It is at least 150 feet wide and more than a football field long and all under one roof! It is open to the air at each end and along one side. There are 6 isles of vendors jammed into the space and everything imaginable is for sale. The distance between the isles is so narrow that you have to turn sideways to negotiate your way through in some of the tightest spots. When we can't find something anywhere else we can usually find it at the flea market. We have also wondered how a person would ever escape if a fire broke out when you were half way through the maze of booths!
