These young men are Elders Rodriquez and Guthrie, missionary companions in the Sinchon area of Seoul. Elder Guthrie arrived from the Mission Training Center in Provo and almost immediately became seriously ill. Arriving on Thursday evening he was in the hospital by Saturday with a serious infection. Sister White & I have the responsibility to see that the missionaries receive medical treatment when necessary. Our Mission President Cho Man Goo, however, is the one who determines where the missionaries are assigned. Some of our mission assignments are more than 4 hours away from Seoul by bus. Prior to the onset of Elder Guthrie's illness, however, President Cho felt prompted to make a last second change in his assignment and assigned him to Sinchon where the hospital is located rather than in an outlying area. The next day Elde Guthrie became seriously ill and was admitted to the hospital. Thanks to President's inspiration and the treatment at Severance Hospital, Elder Guthrie was released in just two days and is now doing well! "Miracles happen every day in the mission field."
