There are some really cool insects in Korea. We don't hunt for them but those I have posted show up as uninvited guests at the Mission Office in Seoul. They tend to bring out the old Biology teacher in me. The large Beetle in the top photo was a female. When one of the missionaries stepped on her about two dozen eggs issued from her ovipositor! The next two pics are of an interesting insect that I think is related to spittle bugs. (If you live in the Northwest you have no doubt seen what looks like a bunch of foamy bubbles on thistles and other plants.) If you sort through the foam you can find the bug that produces it. Anyway, this bug was cool because when threatened it flared its wings so that the red showed. Most likely a means of frightening off predators. I know most of you are not too interested in bugs but our son Chance & our grandsons like them just as much as I do. :)
